My Long Outing Day

Feeling much better yesterday, I accompanied my friend from oversea to the zoo and then to Vivo City (new mega shopping mall) for window shopping, food and a movie. That was my first long outing after many years....

At the Zoo:
Spent about 3 hours walking to see the various animals.... now my legs are aching la. :(

See this cute baby penguin 'threading water'. See more zoo pictures taken by me and by others.

At Vivo City:
This is a real mega mall and there are big outdoor playgrounds for children at every floor. The post CNY sales is on with lots of discounts. You may catch a nice seaview when you stand outside the mall...

Beautiful night view of Vivo City. It overlooks the Sentosa Island just opposite. See more pictures taken by me and by others.

At the Movie: "The Fountain"
I was quite lost watching the movie. Yet the message that came through to me was that we better don't work so hard that we have no time for our loved ones. Sometimes men tend to spend little time with their wife or gf in the name of working hard for them to have a better life. Yet when they have finally got the money, their loved ones may not be around anymore. Then the men may live with regrets for life, like in this movie.

I guess this is a postmodernist approach to film making and it takes people with postmodern thoughts to appreciate the film.

You may watch the trailer and see more pictures and comments.

My Worst CNY

This year is my worst CNY as I have been down with full blown flu since the eve. I have been experiencing all the symptoms of flu:

fever (between 37.1 and 38.8 deg C)
muscle aches and pains (whole body)
weakness and tiredness
headache
dry and wet cough (on different days)
sore throat (can't even swallow my on saliva)
stuffy or runny nose
nausea, and diarrhea (went to the toilet a few times at night)
feeling very cold

The clinics are all closed during this festive period. I can only go and see the doctor tomorrow. I have never experienced such terrible flu before... this is my first time. I guess my body is breaking down. :(

First Aid Course

I was on a 3-days First Aid Course from Monday to Wed as part of my job requirement. It was fun, not because the course was interesting, but because the trainer (a 75 year old grandpa) had many grandfather stories to tell us during the trainings. :)

What touched our hearts was the trainer's reason why he did not remarry after the passing of his wife at the age of 36. He said he promised her he would not remarry for the sake of his 2 children. His wife was suffering from late stage of cancer at that time but refused to go for fear that her children may suffer if her husband remarry. When he assured her that he will stay single for their children's sake she passed away peacefully on that same day. He kept his promise and stayed faithful, single handedly raise his 2 children. He is glad that his children loved and respected him for what he did for them.

The most important part of the course was the practical test on CPR or the 'kiss of life'. Hmmn.... well there is a trick to do a good job on that, and I guessed I have learned that by now'.... heheh. So now I am a certified First Aider. :D
