My Christmas Greeting - poem

My Dear Friend,

Christmas is as pure as dove;
Christmas is a time to truly love.
Do not keep it to yourself;
Do share it with someone else.
Then you'll find meaning as you give;
Then you'll find meaning in the life you live.
This poem I wrote for you to keep;
As my humble Christmas gift.

Your Friend,

Bee

Christmas Wishes

I have stopped blogging for a month by now, other than at my devotional blog. I know some of you, my friends, still keep coming back to check whether I do update my blog. Very sorry to disappoint all of you at your each visit. I guess I should blog here again to share a little of my thoughts and experiences, though it may not be very frequent due to my very busy work schedule.

Below are my wishes for all my faithful friends:

May you a wonderful Christmas this year.
May you thread 2007 without fear.
May your life filled with joy rather than tears.
May you feel the good Lord dear.

Santa Claus or Satan Claws?

I was quite surprised that somebody whom I thought to be a 'Christian' believe in Santa Claus and have dressed like one for Christmas. I personally don't believe in Santa Claus and I view it as just another commercial marketing tactic. In my search to answer the question, "Does Santa Claus exist?", I discovered shocking truth about it... more than meet the eyes.

I find the following excerpts of articles helpful in answering the question (italic text mine):

Does Santa Claus exist?... a scientific investigation into Santa Claus ....If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

The Great Imposer... unmasking the face of Satan:

1. THE CONCERN (the disguise)

Is Santa just a jolly, harmless, friendly fellow? Or is there something or someone else hiding behind jolly ol’ St. Nick?

The Devil is a master of disguise. He can make it appear good, pleasant, and seemingly so innocent – and yet it is deadly! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 11:14, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" He does not appear with horns and a pitch fork breathing fire. He might just appear as a pleasant, friendly, fellow, with "a broad face and a round little belly, That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly. . ."

Could Santa Claus be a subtle, clever attack on our children to confuse, doubt and rob their God-ordained "child like" faith? Satan knows, if he can somehow get that child through those fruitful early years without trusting the Lord Jesus Christ – his goal of eternal damnation in hell increases substantially

2. THE COMING (who is he?)

Where did Santa come from?

According to the legend, Santa began as a fourth century Catholic bishop named Saint Nicholas. The cult of St. Nicholas was one of histories most widespread religious movements. According to St. Nicholas historian, Charles W. Jones, ". . . the cult of St. Nicholas was, before the Reformation, the most intensive of any nonbiblical saint in Christendom. . . there were 2,137 ecclesiastical dedications [churches] to Nicholas in France, Germany, and the Low Countries alone before the year 1500."

The mysterious St. Nicholas.

The first major problem in the Santa Claus saga is the person of St. Nicholas. There is very little evidence, if any, that the man St. Nicholas actually existed.

Nearly all Santa researchers agree that some traits of Santa was borrowed from Norse [Scandinavian] mythology.

The startling fact is, Santa Claus is not the Bishop St. Nicholas – but his Dark Helper!

The shocking truth is Santa Claus originated from a character identified as the devil or Satan.

"The fact is that Santa and Satan are alter egos, brothers; they have the same origin. . . On the surface, the two figures are polar opposites, but underneath they share the same parent, and both retain many of the old symbols associated with their "father" . . . From these two paths, he arrived at both the warmth of our fireplace and in the flames of hell. (Siefker, Phyllis. Santa Claus, Last of the Wild Men: The Origins and Evolution of Saint Nicholas. Jefferson: McFarland & Company, Inc., 1997, p. 6)"

3. THE CAUSE (the copy cat)

Santa

and thou shalt call his name. . . (Matthew 1:21) -- You ever noticed how easy it is to transform "Satan" from "Santa"? Just move the "n" to the end. And presto! "Satan" appears. . . Hmmm….

An internet Google search on "Satan Claus" [not Santa Claus – but SATAN Claus] found over 1,700 hits!
(I found 666,000 hits... the number of Satan) Obviously, there are many that tie the two together."

What about Claus?

Is "Claus" another anagram for "Lucas"?

It’s no secret Lucas and Lucis are new-age "code words" for Lucifer. The Alice Bailey founded new age, occult publishing company was originally named Lucifer Publishing Company but in 1924 the name was cleverly changed to Lucis Trust. By the way, the Lucifer worshipping Lucis Trust is a major player in the works of the United Nations, formerly located in the United Nations building but now located on prime-time 1200 Wall Street.

Claus sounds a lot like "claws."

Maybe Santa Claus means "Satan's Claws"? Like a lion's "claws"?

Old Nick: A well-known British name of the Devil. It seems probable that this name is derived from the Dutch Nikken, the devil...
(Encyclopedia of Occultism and Parapsychology, p.650)

It is also interesting, the book American Slang defines
the slang word nick: to rob or steal. (Robert L. Chapman, American Slang, p. 297)

This is how the Lord Jesus characterizes the devil in John 10:

1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way [say a chimney?], the same is a thief and a robber. . .
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:1,9,10

His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow. . . (Rev. 1:14)
-- Who's got a beard that's long and white... Santa's got a beard that's long and white

Who is this that cometh. . . red in thine apparel (Isaiah 63:2)
-- Who wears boots and a suit of red Santa wears boots and a suit of red

And his feet. . . as if they burned in a furnace (Revelation 1:15)
-- Now who has their feet in an furnace? Who comes down a chimney into a furnace?

Is not this the carpenter. . . (Mark 6:3) -- Santa is no plumber, or electrician, or blacksmith. Santa is a carpenter.

His house. . . was toward the north (Ezekiel 8:14)
-- Everyone knows Santa lives at the North Pole.

And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head (Mark 15:17) -- many writers believe the actual "crown of thorns" wore by the Lord Jesus Christ, was indeed the familiar "holly" wreath. Another plant enthusiast writes of the holly plant and it's portrayal of the "crown of thorns":

. . . who rideth upon the heaven in thy help. . . (Deuteronomy 33:26) -- As everyone knows, Santa miraculously rides upon the heavens as he delivers his gifts and love.

Ho, ho. . . saith. . . (Zechariah 2:6) -- Satan Claus.

. . .and his angels were cast out with him (Revelation 12:9) -- Santa’s Little Helpers? Santa has some cute little helpers called elves. Webster’s Dictionary has an interesting definition for the friendly elf:
ELF
1. A wandering spirit; a fairy; a hobgoblin; an imaginary being which our rude ancestors supposed to inhabit unfrequented places, and in various ways to affect mankind. . .
2. An evil spirit; a devil.
(Webster's Dictionary “elf”)

. . . for his great love wherewith he loved us (Ephesians 2:4)
-- Satan is accomplishing EXACTLY what he desired. Satan’s ultimate goal is worship. And millions of children are lovingly giving him their God-given child-like faith. They love their Santa! They worship their Santa!

. . . Ask, and it shall be given you. . . (Matthew 7:7) -- Millions of young children will anxiously climb into the loving lap of their Santa Claus. They will whisper in his ear their little hearts desire. Then they will jump out of bed Christmas morning, with eyes shimmering, and hearts pounding — and there is all the wonderful gifts Santa brought them.

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Matthew 28:18) -- Children are taught, religiously, that Santa knows everything. He knows when they’re awake. He knows when they’re sleeping. He knows what they want for Christmas.

. . . thy years are throughout all generations. (Psalm 102:24) -- Santa Claus is like the Son of God: "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God;. . ." Hebrews 7:3

. . .I will pour out my spirit. . . (Proverbs 1:23) -- The Christmas "Spirit"? And yes, Santa has his own "spirit." The "Spirit of Christmas." Isn’t that a little strange?

Come, ye children. . . I will teach you the fear of. . . (Psalm 34:11) -- Children the world over are taught to FEAR Santa. You’d better go to bed little boy – Santa is watching. Millions of fearful children are told, "You’d better behave. Santa is watching. You might not get anything for Christmas."

. . . every one of us shall give account of himself to. . . (Romans 14:12) -- Santa?

. . . then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. (Matthew 25:31) -- Take a trip to the local mall at Christmas time. Go watch Santa sitting on his royal throne. Kids are lined up to sit on his lap of judgement. What does Santa ask them, "Have you been a good little boy?" "Have you been a good little girl?’... There’s no question Satan (or Santa. . . ditto) is sitting on his throne. There is no question it is a mockery and pretender of the judgement of a Holy God.

. . . were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12) -- Right on schedule. . . Santa also has a list to judge who's "naughty or nice"

And many believed on him. . . (John 10:42) -- Do you really believe it’s just a coincidence that Santa (a.k.a. Satan), over and over, is counterfeiting the Lord Jesus Christ?

behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called. . . (Revelation 19:11) -- This Christmas Eve millions and millions of little children will climb into their beds "looking for their blessed hope and the glorious appearing" of Santa Claus... They get so excited. . . Santa is coming! Satan is coming!

4. THE CONCLUSION

I am sure many reading this are thinking, "Aw, c'mon, Santa Claus is just fantasy. What is the big deal. Nobody takes it serious."

And that is where you are WRONG – DEAD WRONG! Those little children take their Santa very serious! They literally worship him! They believe and love Santa with all their heart!

Most parents would never teach their beautiful little children such a lie as Santa Claus. Most parents would never openly lie to their children. Especially something that is a blasphemous imposter of the Lord Jesus.
And Satan knows this.

So he disguises the lie in a nice little package of make-believe and fantasy. He creates a harmless ol' jolly fellow that just loves little children. And most parents think, "Now what could be wrong with that?"

Fantasy. . . Satan's “magic weapon.”

Satanist Anton LaVey, author of The Satanic Bible and founder of the First Church of Satan, writes fantasy is a "magic weapon" in Satanism.

"Fantasy plays an important role in any religious curriculum, for the subjective mind is less discriminating about the quality of its food than it is about the taste. . . Thus, fantasy is utilized as a magic weapon [in Satanism]. . . The Satanist maintains a storehouse of avowed fantasy gathered from all cultures and from all ages."
(Anton Szandor LaVey, The Satanic Rituals, p. 15, 27)

Dead Tired For Jesus

Just got back from volunteering at the "Celebrate Christmas in Singapore event". (see report) I am dead tired since I have to rush to church in the morning, then rush to report for volunteers duty after lunch and stay at the event till about 10.30 p.m.

It was a good experience. The side benefits of being a volunteer were firstly, I got to shake the hands with the VVIPs, including the Guest of Honour, BG George Yeo (Minister for Foreign Affairs). :) Secondly, I got to watch the whole performance with unblocked view. :P

Thank God for the perfect weather, though December is a raining month in Singapore. It has been raining the last few days but not today. The performances by Christians from different countries were fantastic! Somehow, the gospel of Christ was preached in a very clear way tonight. The glory of Christ was shown through the dances, singings and testimonies right in the heart of Singapore's Orchard Road. It was like having a Mega Church where more than 20,000 people congregate. Wow!!

I pray that what they have seen and heard will remain in their hearts and bear fruits.

a quick rehearsal before the show time.

Christmas Is Christmas When...

All I want for Christmas is my two molar teeth... my two molar teeth... my two molar teeth!

Yes, I went to see the same dentist again this morning and he did another job for the tooth next to the one he did more than a week ago. I am not sure if it would have solved my problem, 'cos my mouth is still numb, so can't tell.

Well, for my dear readers and friends, I want to dedicate the following Christmas poem to you...

Christmas is Christmas
when love abounds.
Christmas is Christmas
when peace surrounds.

May your Christmas be
filled with joy and peace.
May your Christmas brings
hope that you can't see.

May your Christmas be different
from the one last year.
Christmas is Christmas
when Jesus is here.

My Christmas Gifts

Warning: Don't bother to read this if you have no time...

Why give gifts?
Many Christmases have passed by and I have been giving gifts to others each Christmas. We also used to have gifts-exchange time in church too. But it seems that gradually these activities have become just a commercial practice where its true meaning has lost. We have not been doing it for the last few Christmases. We believe more in giving throughout the year rather than once in a year.

What did I give?
For this coming Christmas I didn't buy any gift, except 5 Christmas cards. Why send Christmas cards when I can send e-cards? Well, my personalized, hand-written cards (though one commented my handwriting is 'ugly'), with my 5 individually composed Christmas poem, take effort, thoughts, and time, especially when I have to send some of them oversea. So the 5 who have got my cards are somewhat special to me, isn't it?

Who can appreciate my gifts?
Yet not everyone can appreciate such actions. :( To those who do: "Thank You Very Much" for appreciating it. In fact, one of them has also spent much time to make something for me in return, though I might only get it after Christmas.... it's ok, for I appreciate the thought and effort very much! :)

The gift of time
Richard said at his blog, "Time is far more precious than money. If you run out of money, there are a myriad of ways you can generate more. If you run out of time, there is no way you can generate more."

Indeed time is life itself. When we give time to a person we are giving part of our life to him/her. I value the time people give to me more than anything else... for money can't buy time, and that's what I wish to give to those I care too. But again, not everyone see the value of time.

Giving to the wrong people
Richard also mentioned in one of his comment to another blog, "I know all too well the feeling of always giving and not getting as much in return. Sometimes it seems that when I stop giving, I stop getting. If I don't call people, they don't call me."

Yes, that's exactly how I feel too. Very often I have to be the one to initiate a chat/conversation/call... if I don't do it, the other person will not initiate it. They only do when they need my help or info. *sigh* Is it so hard to just say "Hi" or "Good morning" when you see your friends (especially the close ones) online, even if you are busy and don't intend to chat? I feel quite discourage over this at times.

Giving to the right people
Jesus advised, "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." (Matthew 7:6)

"The swine cannot possibly appreciate the beauty and complexity of a fine, rare pearl. The swine only sees that they are not edible, and therefore dismisses them as unimportant and worthless, trampling those costly gems underfoot... You have twenty-four hours available to you today -- 86,400 seconds.... Those seconds are your pearls. Where you cast them is completely up to you. " (Twenty-Four Hours)

Re-evaluating who to give
I guess I need to re-evaluate my friendship/relationship with people who don't have affinity with me and to start anew for 2006. I only have 24-hours a day. Time is my life, so I need to prioritize my time and give it only to those who could appreciate it. I need to set my new year resolution soon and start moving on....

Thank you for taking time to read this far.... I appreciate it.

Orchard Road Closure on Christmas Day

The "Singing Christmas Tree" seems to be singing better each night. The one I saw last Sunday night was better than the one on last Friday night. Maybe it's b'cos those performing later have a better feel of the tree stage and could make the necessary changes according to the environment. It's an open-air stage so the choir's voices might be dispersed thin. Also the choirs do not have any chance for rehearsal on the tree stage before the actual performance.

I took a few more photo and have added them to my Rainbow blog album.

Hmmn...what's the person on the right-hand photo doing? :)

The photo right below is a Malaysia group.... these guys were dancing away happily when I took their picture. I was wondering why they were wearing cowboy hats. Was that Malaysian culture? Anyone has any clue??

Oh yes, it's confirmed now that Orchard Road will be closed to traffic on 25 Dec 2005, from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m., the following day, for the Christmas Celebration.

Orchard Road Christmas Walk

Last night, I went to Orchard Road for a walk with my friends as planned. Never do that for many years already. It's nice to be able to just leisurely stroll down the lane at night.

Well, the whole road was lighted up with lots and lots of activities going on. There were a number of singing performances along the stretch of Orchard Road at various places. A nice feeling walking into the 'street of Bethleham' just in front of Ngee Ann City. You get to see people from all over the world as well. Good for pictures taking ya.

You may like to take a look at some pictures I have taken uploaded at my Rainbow blog.

Btw, there is no road block as what I thought. I think the road will only be blocked on Christmas eve and Christmas night instead.

If you are free, do drop by Orchard Road to catch the actual scene then...

Christmas Countdown at Orchard

Got home from the Orchard Christmas Countdown at about 2 a.m. There was no public transport except taxi that were scare too. We had to walk all the way from Orchard to Newton Road to catch the taxi home.

We experienced both fun and lousy situations.

The lousy situations:

780a82f9.jpgIt was super crowded! The pavement just outside the Orchard MRT station, facing Tangs was almost impossible to pass through when the team of us tried to pass. I had to practically use my elbow to block away the 'buaya' trying to take advantage of the situation.

Too many illegal sellers taking advantage of the crowd to sell snow sprays. People used those sprays to spray on whoever passed by, not just on their friends, making a big mess on people and the floor everywhere. That's the ugly sight of not only Singaporeans, but also the foreign workers here.

At one stage some guys refused to stop spraying even though we had to cross their path to do our duty. I didn't know where I got the courage to shout at one of the guys to stop, with my finger pointing at him. That guy looked stunned. At that moment I felt like the character played by actress Zoe Tay in the recent drama where she was the Big Sister of the loan shark group.... haha. He must be thinking how on earth a slim build lady would dare to command him to stop his mischievous act... geesh. I guess at that moment my civic consciousness took over all shyness and my natural inhibition. Hmmn... I learnt something new about myself. :)

c8d6d72f.jpg

The fun situations:

We had to escort a group of 150 children choir members from Borders to the stage next to Orchard MRT Station. It was fun and reminded me of school days.

Another thing is as volunteers we had the privilege of standing right in front of the performance stage and had the best view. We could see the celebrities and dancers clearly. In fact, I even had a chance to shake hand with Germit Singh and Mosses Lim at the end of the show, wishing them "Merry Christmas". Hmmn... not bad huh. :)

I would say it was something meaningful to me to be able to be part of this celebration that is very different from the rest of my Christmases. If you were there, you might be able to spot me easily since I was near the stage most of the time.

WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A Touching Christmas Story

A Touching Christmas Story (From Daily Encounter)

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit"
(2 Corinthians 3:18, niv).

"The Doll and a White Rose" by V.A. Bailey

I hurried into the local department store to grab some last minute Christmas gifts. I looked at all the people and grumbled to myself. I would be in here forever and I just had so much to do. Christmas was beginning to become such a drag. I kind of wished that I could just sleep through Christmas. But I hurried the best I could through all the people to the toy department. Once again I mumbled to myself at the prices of all these toys, and wondered if the grandchildren would even play with them.

I found myself in the doll aisle. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a little boy about 5 holding a lovely doll. He kept touching her hair and he held her so gently. I could not seem to help myself. I just kept looking over at the little boy and wondered who the doll was for.

I watched him turn to a woman and he called his aunt by name and said, "Are you sure I don't have enough money." She replied a bit impatiently, "You know that you don't have enough money for it. The aunt told the little boy not to go anywhere because she had to go get some other things and would be back in a few minutes. And then she left the aisle.

The boy continued to hold the doll. After a bit I asked the boy who the doll was for. He said, "It is the doll my sister wanted so badly for Christmas. She just knew that Santa would bring it." I told him that maybe Santa was going to bring it. He said "No, Santa can't go where my sister is, I have to give the doll to my Momma to take to her."

I asked him where his sister was. He looked at me with the saddest eyes and said, "She has gone to be with Jesus. My Daddy says that Momma is going to have to go be with her."

My heart nearly stopped beating. Then the boy looked at me again and said, "I told my Daddy to tell Momma not to go yet. I told him to tell her to wait till I got back from the store." Then he asked me if I wanted to see his picture. I told him I would love to. He pulled out some pictures he'd had taken at the front of the store. He said, "I want my Momma to take this with her so she doesn't ever forget me. I love my Momma so very much and I wish she did not have to leave me. But Daddy says she will need to be with my sister."

I saw that the little boy had lowered his head and had grown so very quiet. While he was not looking, I reached into my purse and pulled out hand full of bills. I asked the little boy, "Shall we count that money one more time?"

He grew excited and said, "Yes, I just know it has to be enough" So I slipped my money in with his and we began to count it. And of course it was plenty for the doll. He softly said, "Thank you Jesus for giving me enough money."

Then the boy said, "I just asked Jesus to give me enough money to buy this doll so Momma can take it with her to give to my sister. And he heard my prayer. I wanted to ask him for enough to buy my Momma a white rose, but I didn't ask him, but he gave me enough to buy the doll and a rose for my Momma. She loves white roses so very, very much."

In a few minutes the aunt came back and I wheeled my cart away. I could not keep from thinking about the little boy as I finished my shopping in a totally different spirit than when I had started. And I kept remembering a story I had seen in the newspaper several days earlier about a drunk driver hitting a car and killing a little girl and the mother was in serious condition. The family was deciding on removal of the life support. Now surely this little boy did not belong with that story.

Two days later I read in the paper where the family had disconnected the life support and the young woman had died. I could not forget the little boy and just kept wondering if the two were somehow connected. Later that day, I could not help myself and I went out and bought some white roses and took them to the funeral home where the young woman was. And there she was holding a lovely white rose, the beautiful doll, and the picture of the little boy in the store.

I left there in tears, my life changed forever. The love that little boy had for his little sister and his mother was overwhelming. And in a split second a drunk driver had ripped the life of that little boy to pieces.

Please don't drink and drive this holiday season nor throughout the coming year.

My Reflection

The above story reminds me of life after death again. To me, death is peaceful and non-threatening, unlike how most people feel. For to me, death is just a peaceful sleep that brings me to the beautiful place of eternity.

I guess how we view death depends on where we think we will be going after death. If we think there's no heaven or if we aren't sure if we will be there when we die tonight, then death might be a frightening experience.

Christmas In Singapore Parade

Felt so tired again after a whole day and night spent at Orchard Road for the Christmas In Singapore Parade. My arms are tired with muscles ache now. I was a volunteer there. It was interesting to see the people's reactions when I tried to give them the Christmas program brochures. Some took them with a smile and a "Thank You", some don't even bother to look at me, and some came forward to ask for them on their own accord. I even saw 2 TCS stars there with their children.

K played 'hide-and-seek' with me for awhile trying to locate me... hehe. Sorry K, too crowded so it's hard to spot me unless you go there early and station yourself at one place.... so no prize this time. Actually it was not as difficult as I thought since not all the 1000 over volunteers wore red T-shirts. Try again on Christmas Eve. ;p

But to think of it, K shouldn't be always trying to look out for me since I already told him my stand regarding meeting up and he isn't agreeable to it. In addition, after what he had written to me in his last email I had already set my heart where it should be... I am not the type who would waver once I have made up my mind after giving others many chances. The only reason for me to change my mind must be something really compelling and worth reconsidering.

Anyway, I'll be at Orchard Road again on the 24th from 6 p.m. till past midnight. The Christmas Countdown performances will start from 10.30 p.m. onward.
